Brenda Tucker
Purcell
Oct 20, 1948 — Apr 6, 2017
A Mother. A Sister. A Daughter. A Friend. Brenda Tucker Purcell, affectionately known as "Bren" to family and close friends was the daughter of the Oscar Otis Tucker, Jr. and the late Earlie Miller Tucker. She was born October 20, 1948 in Rockingham County, NC. She attended Lincoln Elementary school and was a proud graduate Booker T. Washington High school. With the skills gleaned while attending Rockingham Community College, Brenda held various positions in the cities of Reidsville and Greensboro, NC.
Never meeting a stranger, "Bren" was a lover of life, laughter, but most importantly, the LORD. During her 68 years of life, "Bren" touched many hearts with her contagious laughter, bright smile, and free spirit. Brenda accepted Christ at an early age and served at the Blue Stone Baptist Church with her current membership at Chapel Hill Progressive Primitive Baptist Church in Ruffin, NC. where she participated in the choir and other ministries. Although, "Bren" battled cancer since 1988, she always had a ready testimony of how the Lord never left her side in the good and bad times.
Out of all the hats that "Bren" wore, her favorites, by far, were those of a daughter, a mother, and a sister. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her Father: Oscar Otis Tucker, Reidsville, NC; Children: Son: Oscar Gregory Purcell, Reidsville, NC; Daughter, Radiah Cerice Purcell Spleen, Apex, NC; Sisters: Norma Jean Tucker McLauchlin (Mac), Fayetteville, NC; Karen Tucker, Reidsville, NC; Grandson: Christopher Spleen, Jr., US Army; Granddaughter: Cierra Spleen, Apex, NC; Nephew: Allen Scott-Tucker McLauchlin; Grandniece, Haven McLauchlin; Grandnephew, Eden Scott McLauchlin. In addition, she leaves dedicated and loving aunts, uncles, and a host of loving cousins, other relatives, and friends.
"Bren" gained her wings on April 06, 2017 in Eden, NC. If she could tell us all one last thing, we believe that it would be to always keep God first and to live each day as if it were you last!
