Obituary

Ms. Betty Jean Galloway departed this life on September 9, 2021, for her eternal resting place in glory at Cone Health - Annie Penn Memorial Hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina.  Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Greenview Cemetery, Montgomery Street, Reidsville, NC.  Public viewing will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel.

Betty Jean Galloway was born on March 17, 1944 in Nacogdoches, Texas to the late Alexander Galloway Sr. and Mattie Cole Galloway.  She attended the public school system in Nacogdoches, TX and Rockingham County, NC.

After moving to North Carolina, she worked several odd jobs including Chase Bags for a number of years before changing her career to healthcare as a CNA.  She lived in the Piney Folk area for several years where she joined Piney Fork Primitive Baptist Church. Once she moved to Reidsville, she became a member of Jerusalem United Holy Church.  Once her son-in-law became a pastor, she joined him and her daughter at The New Saint Paul Baptist Church in Eden, NC.

Betty loved her family, friends, and clients.  She was a hard worker and great provider for her two children. She enjoyed cooking, planting flowers, as well as talking to her sisters and friends on the phone.  During her relaxing time, she loved to go play BINGO.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her  brothers, Clifford Galloway, George Galloway and Alexander Galloway Jr.; sisters, Rose Cardwell and Earleen Caldwell.

Those left to cherish precious memories are: her son, Alvis Dwayne Galloway (Mary) of Reidsville, NC; daughter, Cynthia Clark (Rev. Joel) of Reidsville, NC; four grandsons, Jontévis Johnson of Greensboro, NC, Tyreece Galloway of Reidsville, NC, Tyjuan Galloway of Reidsville, NC and Jymon Clark of Kannapolis, NC; one sister, Dorothy Moore of Eden, NC; special nephew, Lawrence Moore of Eden, NC; special friend like a daughter, Ernestine Rodgers of Eden, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Ashton and Yolanda McLaurin and the staff of the McLaurin Funeral Home are serving the family. Covid-19 precautions will be followed with social distancing, masks and sanitizing required.
