Mrs. Betty Gray Hairston DeJournette, age 89, passed away Thursday, January 25, 2024 at her residence.

Public viewing will begin on Monday, January 29, 2024 from 12 until 8 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 179 Jones Chapel Road, Reidsville, NC. The family visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Betty was born in Rockingham County, NC on March 20, 1934 to Bud Hairston and Nannie Wright Hairston. She was married to James Cleveland DeJournette.

For many years, she worked as a chef throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Survivors include children, Jimmy Wayne DeJournette (Gloria) and Cleveland Lamour DeJournette (Annette), Jeraldine Partee, Linda Thompson, Jacqueline Simpson (Calvin) and LaVerne Foster (Ben); grandchildren, Lamour, Denzel, Brian, Bridgett, LaShawn, LaTina, LaQuasha, Gregory and Jada; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jalia, JaQuan, Za'Ryon, Zariah, Londyn, Bryant, Lyric, De'Zaraye, Kareem, George III and Jordan; great-great grandchildren, George IV, Chancellor, Prince, Johnte and Aliyah; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by grandchildren, Calvin, Dasman and George, Jr.
