YANCEYVILLE, NC - Mr. Barry Fields, age 67, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC.
A viewing will begin on Friday, April 17, 2026 from 4 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026 from the McLaurin-Harris Memorial Chapel, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the service at 12 p.m. Reverend Tommy Williamson, eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in the New Ephesus Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruffin, NC.
Barry was born on December 8, 1958 to Edith Fields and Early Giles.
He was educated in the Rockingham County Schools and completed a Culinary Arts program and Rockingham Community College.
Prior to his illness, he was employed at Times Turn Around in Reidsville, NC, where he worked for several years. He also worked in various places as a cook. In his free time, he enjoyed listening to music-often playing it very loud-and found great peace in taking long walks. He was known to walk for miles, and whenever he grew tired, he always managed to find a ride back home. Barry was the kind of person who would willingly give you the shirt off his back and always shared whatever he had with others.
Preceding his death are his mom, Edith Fields Williamson; dad, Early Giles; step-dad, Willie Onza Williamson.
Barry leaves to cherish his precious memories are his son, Devin Spencer; seven sisters, Tammy W. Douthit (Kelvin) of Winston-Salem, NC and Pamala W. Rogers of Cary, NC; Debra Kay Giles, Lisa Giles, Shelia Giles, Doretha King (Richard), Daphne Giles all of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Kenneth Williamson (Adrienne) of Winston-Salem, NC and Donnie Williamson (Hermanda) of Roanoke, VA. He is also remembered by nephews, Kris Williamson, Avery Rogers, Tevin Douthit , Xavier Williamson; great nephew, Lennox Lawson; nieces, Taylor Douthit, Mekaila Blackwell and Lindsey Williamson; great niece, Ava Rogers; one aunt, Stella Mayes; one uncle, Ernest Gwynn both of Freehold, NJ; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
