Obituary

Ms. Barbara Lee Morehead passed on Monday, February 3, 2020 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at McLaurin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Elder Courtney Stockton serving as Eulogist.  There will be no public viewing, but there will be a visitation 30 min. prior to service. The family will receive family and friends on Thursday evening from 5:00-6:30 P.M. at McLaurin Funeral Home.

Ms. Barbara Lee Morehead was born in Reidsville, North Carolina on August 22, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Lillie Valentine "Teen" Morehead and the late Morris Morehead.  She entered into eternal rest on February 3, 2020 at her home.

Barbara became a member of First Baptist Church at an early age where she accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as her Savior.

She received her education at Booker T. Washington High School in Reidsville, NC and graduated in the class of 1958. Barbara moved to New York in the 1970's before returning back to her hometown in the 1990's to give her daughter a better life. She worked as a childcare provider for a number of years, as she always loved the energy and playfulness of young children before beginning work as a CNA at Branchwood Nursing Home for many years until retirement.

Barbara loved her family and friends dearly. Several years later she experienced the joy that comes only with being a grandmother, when Aneisha and Chelsea were born.  Barbara loved her grandchildren deeply and looked forward to visiting with them as much as possible. She was extremely proud of her daughter and her grandchildren as they were undoubtedly, the "diamonds" in her life!

Those that knew Barbara will always remember her quick wit and comedic talents.  Always the comedian, Barbara would keep family and friends in "stitches" as she always found a way to bring laughter to any visit or get-together.  At her last comedic "performance" on Thanksgiving Day - 2019, she was the life of the party and had everyone laughing hysterically to the point of tears in their eyes!  She will forever be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents are:  her siblings, Martha Miles-McKenzie, Betty Stockton and Chester Morehead.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory:  her loving daughter, Deborah Williams and her husband, Wardell Williams of Eden, NC; her grand-daughters, Aneisha Linster of Columbia, SC and Chelsea Crisp of Greensboro, NC;  and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
