Obituary

REIDSVILLE, NC - Mr. Aubrey Shawn Lea, age 65, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation in Taylorsville, NC.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, May 29, 2026 from the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 420 Mizpah Church Road, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 12:30 p.m., followed by the service at 1 p.m. Pastor Gregory H. Lee will officiate and Reverend Paul N. Milton will serve as eulogist.

Military honors will be performed by the United States Marines Corps.

All other times the family will receive friends at the home of his mother, Barbara Graves Price - 642 Candy Creek Road, Reidsville, NC.

Aubrey Shawn Lea, the blessed gift of Barbara Graves Price and the late James Stanley Lea, Sr., was born on September 24, 1960.

Following a period of illness, he departed this life on Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, at the Valley Nursing Home Rehabilitation Center.

As a native and lifelong resident of Rockingham County, North Carolina, he attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Reidsville Senior High School, Class of 1979.

This loving son, father, grandfather and brother was baptized into the fellowship of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was a factory worker and a proud Marine.

"Lea Boy," as he was affectionately referred to by family and close friends, was known for never meeting a stranger and for his love of people, especially family. We thank God for his impacting presence and precious memories to forever cherish. To God Be The Glory!

His legacy of love and faithfulness wil forever be treasured in the hearts and memory of those who survive: his loving mother, Barbara Graves Price; his daughter, Audree Lea Hatchett (Justin Hatchett); and his grandchildren, Kevin Lewis Mayweather III, Jordan Lea Hatchett, and Madison Kalee Hatchett. In addition to his immediate family, Aubrey leaves behind many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who wil forever cherish his memory.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Stanley Lea, Sr., and his brother, James Stanley Lea Jr. (2021).
