REIDSVILLE - Mrs. Arethea Marie McAdoo Powell, age 84, formerly of High Point, NC, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025 at Pine Forrest Assisted Living in Reidsville, NC.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 11 a.m. from Christ the King Catholic Church, 1505 E. MLK Jr Drive, High Point, NC. The inurnment will follow.

She was born in Asheville, NC on September 17, 1940 to the late Arthur Franklin McAdoo Sr., and the late Katye Bennett McAdoo.

She was educated in the Guilford County Schools and graduated from William Penn High School class of 1958. She later attended North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC and St. Augustine University in Raleigh, NC.

After moving to Washington, DC, she received a business certification. For many years she worked at the Social Security Administration.

She is survived by daughter, Charlene Elizabeth Powell; siblings, Arthur Franklin McAdoo Jr. (Daphne); Rosalind McAdoo Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
