REIDSVILLE - Ms. Annie Marie Scales, age 81, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Alamance Regional Medical Center in Burlington, NC.
A public viewing will begin on Friday, March 28, 2025 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025 at 12 p.m. from the Garrett's Grove United Methodist Church, 191 High Rock Road, Gibsonville, NC. The family visitation will take place at 11:30 a.m. Pastor, Elder Phyllis Coates will preside and Pastor Darryl Donnell Jr., eulogist.
The committal and interment will follow in Garrett's Grove UMC Cemetery, Gibsonville, NC.
The family will received friends at the residence, 123 Robbie Scott Trail, Reidsville, NC.
Annie Marie affectionately called "Sis" was born on September 29, 1943 to the late John Willie and Odell Brown Scales who both preceded her in death. The passing of Ms. Scales life gives life to eternity that was accomplished in the span of 81 well-lived years.
Ms. Annie Marie was a native of Rockingham County, NC and a resident of Reidsville, NC for the majority of her life. She attended the local public schools, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, class of 1960.
Annie Marie was nurtured in her christian faith and influence along with her family at Garrett's Grove United Methodist Church.
Annie gave unselfishly, helping her neighbors, church, family and friends. She loved cooking her favorite sweet potato pies and baking cakes. she enjoyed working outside in the yard with plants and flowers as long as her health permitted. Most of all she loved shopping.
Annie's working experience before retirement was upheld with respect and commitment around Reidsville Community. She first worked at Creighton Shirt Factory, then Annie Penn Hospital. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant using her skill to help so many people, especially her younger brother Roger who remains in Assisted Living Care. We as a family applaud her for her good standards. Kudos to our sister...Gone but not forgotten.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Scales Brown; niece, Belinda Brown; nephews, Andre Brown and John Hester Scales III.
Those left to remember her love and cherish her memory are: brothers, John H. Scales, Jr. (Jackie) of Upper Marlboro, MD, Donnie L. Scales (Richetta) of Clinton, MD and Roger Scales of Burlington, NC; aunt, Omega Bell (William); uncle, Bob Brown (Delores); 1 great-aunt, Theresa Graves; step-son Everette Farrish ;nephews, Mark Brown, Donald Scales; nieces, Christine Scales-Caldwell (Josh), Yolanda Harris (Wayne), Donna Scales, Cynthia Robinson, Tisha Morehead McArthur (Timothy); devoted friends, Roylene Wilkerson (Silas), Cynthia Kersey, Dorothy Barnes and Tonya Farrish; a host of relatives and friends.
