Alphonso Willis, Jr. ("Bro"), born January 8, 1961, was called home to the lord on Friday, December 7, 2012.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 1:00 P.M., McLaurin Memorial Chapel with visitation 12:30-1:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery, Yanceyville, NC.

Alphonso attended Rockingham County Community College after graduating from Reidsville Senior High School in 1978. He worked for Fieldcrest Mills in Eden, NC, and then for almost thirty years for the state of North Carolina, where he was a Correctional Officer for North Carolina State Prisons. He finished his career with the State of North Carolina at Rockingham County Schools.


"Bro" had an especial love of automobiles. Volkswagens were his first love, and he was always happy driving, riding, or working on any of his cars or trucks.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Sonja Martin Willis, and father Alphonso Willis, Senior.

Alphonso was a loving brother, uncle, and friend. Left to celebrate his life are brother Buddy, sister Debra, niece Toni, and special friend Leslie Martin. Also surviving him are aunts and uncles Allen Martin, Lawrence and Victoria Martin, Sadie Orrell, Ruby and John Reynolds, and numerous cousins and friends. Their memories of him will live on in their minds and hearts.
