Alice Mae Herbin was born May 1, 1923 in in Guilford County to the late Alex & Anna Patrick Herbin.  She departed this life at Moses Cone Hospital, suddenly on May 17, 2017.

Alice grew up in Rockingham County and went to school in Brown Summit. She was a hard-working woman who cleaned houses for a living.

Alice loved fishing with her good ole cone pole and cooking some of the best sweet potato pies you could ever put in your mouth. She spent her earlier days working hard, and in her spare time, loving her family. She loved anything that sparkled, from sequined dresses to sparkling jewelry. In her later days she maintained her whit and spunk.

Alice can best be described as an inspiration to all who knew her. She was the epitome of a mother so much so, we used two first names to address her, "Grandma Granny". One name didn't seem quite big enough. She was a mother to her own family along with countless others. She left to her family her love of God, good ole southern hospitality and love of family. These traits guided her footsteps and made her into the awesome woman we stand in remembrance of today.

Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her older sister; Annie Blackwell; two brothers; John and Vance Herbin; daughter; Eunice Lee Herbin who left behind four kids, Krisol, Rickey Lee, Gloria and Stacey Herbin whom she raised.

She leaves to cherish her memories: four daughters; Bessie Harden(Wesley), Margaret Hatfield (James), Mary Hatfield, Bernice Herbin, son; Roy Herbin (Rebbie), nineteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren,  brother; Arthur Herbin, sister; Eunice Bell Herbin,  and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the residence of Bernice Herbin, 91 Neal Road, Reidsville, N.C.

McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
