Mr. Alexander S. Hairston passed on Friday, January 17, 2020 at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at McLaurin Memorial Chapel, 721 E. Morehead Street, Reidsille, NC with Senior Minister, Shannon Newsome serving as Eulogist. Family visitation will be held one half hour prior to the service. Public viewing will be on Friday from 12 - 7 p.m.
Alexander Sebastian "Bay Boy" Hairston was born and raised in Madison, North Carolina to the late Roy Barlow and Ada Webster Hairston. Beloved husband and best friend to Katrina Dalton Hairston for 26 years, he took God's hand and entered into eternity on January 17, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Alex attended Madison-Mayodan High School and Rockingham Community College. He was employed at Global Textiles until his health declined.
He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and being a role model to his sons. He never met a stranger, and was always eager to help and give an encouraging and spiritual word.
In addition to his parents, Alex was preceded in death by: brothers, Matthew, Roy "Bobcat" and George "Herman" Hairston; father-in-law, Julius "JB" Galloway; and mother-in-law, Shirley J. Bethel.
Left to cherish his memory are: wife, Katrina Dalton Hairston, of the home; sons, Alexander B. Hairston, of Greensboro, NC and Montel J. Hairston, of the home; brother, James Hairston (Debra), of Madison, NC; sister, Ada Hairston, of Madison, NC; sister-in-law, Teresa B. Hairston, of Atlanta, GA; father –in-law, James Bethel, Jr., of Reidsville, NC; nieces, Christina Hairston, Tyrra Hopkins and Litisha Hopkins Thompson (Chante'); nephews, Cameron Hairston (Jamila), John Hairston (Shayla), and Eric Hairston; great-nephews, Tyler and Grayson Hairston; god-son, Isaiah Broadnax; and a host of other relatives and friends.
