Born on July 30, 1935 to the late Robert Lee Williamson and Bessie Annielee Hatchett Williamson, Afrances Williamson Williams departed this life at the Penn Center in Reidsville, North Carolina on June 14, 2020.
Afrances joined West End Baptist Church at an early age and remained devoted and faithful until her health declined. At West End, she served as Past President of the Kitchen Committee, and sang with the Senior, Mass and Gospel Choirs. She enjoyed Sunday School immensely and the Missionary ministries. Absolutely nothing could come between her and her relationship with God. Even at the end of her earthly journey, her faith in God was very strong and she never, ever complained.
Afrances was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister-in-law, cousin, God-mother and friend……just a wonderful, sweet, understanding soul with lots of patience who was loved by everyone who knew her. A great cook, she could cook almost anything anybody would request.
Educated in the public schools of Rockingham County, she especially had fond memories of Booker T. Washington High School. She was employed at Chase Bag Company for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her loving husband, James D. "Pete" Williams; sisters, Mollie Bell Turner, Gracie Graves and Kathleen Lawson; and brothers, Lawrence Williamson and Bobby Williamson.
She leaves to cherish precious memories: one son, James D. "Petie" Williams, of Reidsville, NC; a loving granddaughter, Jamacia "Maci" Williams, of Reidsville, NC; sisters-in-law, Rosetta Williamson and Martha Jane Williamson, both of Reidsville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
McLaurin Funeral Home is serving the family.
