Obituary

REIDSVILLE, NC - Mr. Adolphus L. Keesee, Jr., age 95, passed away Friday, May 1, 2026 at his residence.

A viewing will begin on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 12 until 7 p.m. at McLaurin-Harris Funeral Home, 721 East Morehead Street, Reidsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2026 from the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 7236 US-29 Business, Reidsville, NC. Visitation with the family will begin at 1:30 p.m., followed by the service at 2 p.m. Pastor William C. Hairston, eulogist.

The committal and interment with military honors performed by the United States Army Honor Guard will follow in the New Center Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Reidsville, NC.

All other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his sister-in-law, Katherine Cobb Cogdell, 944 Willow Street, Reidsville, NC.

Mr. Adolphus L. Keesee, Jr. was born on May 5, 1930. He departed this lifeon May 1, 2026 at his residence. He was married to the late Mary Jane Cobb Keesee.

Adolphus was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He was the first black mechanic to be employed by the Rockingham County School Bus Garage for 45 years. He had an auto body shop for over 50 years.

Adolphus was well known throughout the Rockingham County community; a sharp dresser, a cool Volkswagen that was a classic and he was an avid guitar player who rendered music for many church services. For over 75 years, he ministered music from Georgia to New York where he met the love of his life. The joyful memories will be remembered by many. He's Been So Good to Me was his song of choice while in Cypress Valley Rehabilitation Center.

Those left to cherish his memories are; son, Kenneth Anthony Keesee; grandchildren; Shawn Keesee (Alleya), Porchia Keesee; great grandchildren, Brittany, Aubree, Damarii, Myia, and Mo; sisters-in-law, Katherine Cogdell, Bessie Cobb; brother-in-law, Richard Cobb; honorary family, the King Family; other relatives and friends.

A special thank you is extended to Annie Penn Hospital, Cypress Valley Rehabilitation Center, Rockingham County Hospice and to everyone for your support, kind words and your prayers.
